Just like Wechat, nobody may live in China for long without riding bicycles. One could wonder what one should not already know about shared bicycles that NiDO East China should take up a task of making an article about this seemingly unnecessary topic. Please stay with us for some minutes to get some important tips that may save you some stress or worse situations. You may also be able to help someone else with some information through this little article.

Some of the companies include Mobike, Ofo, HelloBike etc. Some are manual while others are electric powered. As you know already, you just need to download the app and link them to your WeChat or Alipay to be able to use one. Some of them can be used directly through WeChat or Alipay as well.

A

They are convenient, have no issues with traffic, affordable, as cheap as 1 yuan for about 3km and 2 yuan for the electric bikes possibly depending on the city. Some use monthly subscription model.

Even though they are cheap and convenient, there are safety tips and morals we should consider before and after using them to avoid several potential unpleasant unknowns.

1. BRAKES:
Some bikes look new and clean while they’re actually faulty! Please check that the brakes are fucntional before you take off. By doing so, you have decreased the chances of an accident by a large percentage. It happened to one of us just a few days ago. Happily, there were no serious damages in health.

2. RIDING A BIKE:
Please make sure you know how to ride a bike before you take one. Please be careful while riding in winter if there is snow. It slips when you are not expecting it!

3. LOCKING OF BIKE AFTER USE:
As we’re all aware, passport details are used for WeChat and Alipay, when you forget to lock it after use, someone else might gain access to it, thereby multiplying your mileages, which will make you pay more, and failure to do so might get one arrested by the authorities for theft.

4. PARK AT DESIGNATED PLACES
Please ensure to park well otherwise you may pay extra charges.

5. NO TYPING OF NUMBERS
For electric bikes, please do not type numbers while opening the bike (manual bikes ). Incase of loss, you may be fined a sum of 2000 yuan.

6. BATTERY LEVEL:
For the electric bikes, you can view the level of the battery which shows how many kilometers it can go, sometimes you go more than the duration of the battery, then it stops you half way, you have to pay extra charges, (especially when not parked at the parking spot).

7. TRAFFIC RULES:
Always use the road meant for bikes, do not overspeed, and always obey the traffic signals.

We wish you a happy and safe life in China.

Welfare Secretary
